DESCRIPTION
Shriram Joso Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC Herbicide Details :
  • Shriram Joso is a highly effective, post-emergence herbicide specially formulated for paddy crops. With selective and systemic action, it provides excellent control of grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds like barnyard grass, jungle rice, motha, and many others in both nursery and main field conditions. Its fast degradation in plants ensures crop safety while maintaining superior weed control.
  • Technical Name : Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC
  • Mode Of Action : Joso inhibits the enzyme acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS), blocking amino acid synthesis in weeds. It is absorbed through both foliage and roots, moving systemically to target weeds and stop growth.
  • Method & Time Of Application : Apply as a post-emergence spray when weeds are in early growth stage (2–4 leaf stage). Use a knapsack or power sprayer to ensure uniform coverage.
Features and Benefits:
  • It is Selective, systemic action absorbed by foliage and roots. Inhibits plant amino acid synthesis – acetohydroxyacid synthase AHAS.
  • Compatible with other plant protection chemicals including carbamates and organophosphate insecticides without any adverse effect on rice
  • Has excellent rice crop selectivity and it degrades in plant system extremely fast to provide an excellent control of all major weeds
  • Effectively controls grasses, sedges and broad leaf weeds infesting rice crop both in nursery and main field
  • Crops : Paddy (Rice)
  • Dosage : 80–100 ml per acre
FAQs for Shriram Joso (Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC) Herbicide
1. What makes Shriram Joso effective in rice weed management?
Ans. Shriam Joso uses Bispyribac Sodium (10% SC)—a next-gen ALS inhibitor (Group 2) with systemic action. It’s absorbed via leaves and roots to inhibit weed growth at the meristem, ensuring both immediate kill and long-term control.
2. What weeds does Joso control in paddy fields?
Ans. It targets major paddy weeds including:
  • Echinochloa crusgalli, E. colonum (barnyard grass)
  • Ischaemum rugosum, Cyperus spp. (sedges)
  • Broadleaf weeds like Eclipta alba, Ludwigia parviflora, Monochoria vaginalis, Alternanthera, and Sphenoclea
3. When and how should I apply Joso for best results?
Ans. Apply as early post-emergence once weeds are at the 2–5 leaf stage, normally 12–18 days after sowing or transplanting. Maintain water level to 2–3 cm during and after spray (2 days) to enhance uptake.
4. What is the recommended dosage and spray volume?
Ans. Apply 80–100 ml per acre, mixed in 200–300 L water per hectare. For a knapsack sprayer (15 L), use approximately 4–5 ml per 15 L for uniform coverage.
5. How soon will I see weed control action?
Ans. You may see weed yellowing (chlorosis) within 3–5 days, necrosis around 5 days, and complete weed death within 10 days of application.
6. What yield and nutrient benefits does Joso provide?
Ans. In field trials (Rabi, Coimbatore), applying Joso at 40 g/ha increased rice yield to ~5058 kg/ha—comparable to an integrated system using pretilachlor and hand-weeding. It also significantly reduced nutrient removal by weeds (NPK depletion).
7. Is it safe for rice and the environment?
Ans. Joso is highly selective for rice and rapidly degrades in plant tissues, making it safe for subsequent crops. It preserves soil microbial activity and has low residual carryover.
