FAQs for the product of Chambal Totto Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL Herbicide
1. What is this herbicide used for?
It’s a broad-spectrum, non-selective, contact herbicide used post-emergence or pre-plant to control both broadleaf and grassy weeds in crops like potato, cotton, maize, rice, grapes, and sugarcane
2. How does it work?
Paraquat disrupts photosynthesis, producing reactive oxygen species (ROS) that destroy plant cell membranes. Effects appear rapidly—within hours to days on treated foliage
3. What is the recommended dosage?
General: ~1 liter per acre (~6.6 ml/L water).
Commonly used rate: 100 ml per 15 L pump sprayer (~6.6 ml/L)
4. When should I apply it?
Apply as a post-emergence foliar spray, targeting young, actively growing weeds. Avoid spraying before heavy rain; it becomes rainfast within minutes to hours
5. Is it selective or non-selective?
It is non-selective—kills all green plants on contact. Apply with caution to avoid drift onto desired crops
6. How soon does it work?
Weed tissue shows browning and necrosis within a few hours, and death occurs over 3–7 days, depending on weed type and weather
7. Is it safe for crops and the environment?
Crop safety: Non-selective—avoid contact with desired plants.
Environmental risk: Low soil activity, but highly toxic to humans, wildlife, and aquatic life. Do NOT allow runoff into water bodies
